Title: RCR is looking for staff!
iago. - May 13, 2008 12:54 AM (GMT)
Hey guys! We're looking for some brand new blood to add to our staff We have 3 spots open, to be exact. So, Lea and I would like those of you who are interested in becoming either graphic staff or moderator to apply by filling out the form and posting in this thread.
Remember, being staff isn't easy. You'll be assigned responsibilities and the site relies on you to get your job done on time. Please don't apply if you're not serious or active or think you could do a good job with it.
Anyways, here's the form. Please post in this thread :) We have some awesome people on staff already and I'm sure you'll find yourself welcomed and happy.
xoxo,
Lea&Sabs

what is one idea you have for RCR? Create a tournament like challange, that would involve tions of people and would create activity. I know a lot of sites have done this. But RCR should make one that is completely different in styles to their members.

what is one idea you have for RCR? Help create more activity in the member clubs! An idea would be to create battles between different clubs (not just graphic-wise, but maybe include writing battles or scavenger hunts where people, of related groups like the Twilight and Vampire Clubs could hunt for 'supernatural' objects or something). <--Pure improv moment there, but hopefully it's not the dummest idea in the world. :P

what is one idea you have for RCR? At the moment RC&R is perfect, but i think that we should add more graphic promotions.. what i mean by this is, more levels to go up to. This is going to sound corny but ah well, just like world of warcraft how they are making an expansion giving you a chance to reach a higher level to make the game more complex, and give those who already reached the top level more game time. After a while of being the best level you're going to get bored. That may not be the case with this forum, but i think it'd be more of a challenge. And if that is a success, maybe we can make challenges that may boost you? Just a thought, sorry if it is a bit scattered.. : P

(whee, it's weird, i joined RCR on my parents birthday, yes both my mom, and my dad's, weird right?) how many posts do you have? 877 what is your rank? Intermediate how often are you online? Almost all the time (weekends) and a good portion after school, usually from 4PM - BED (which is about 10 - 11PM, yes I'm a internet whore). do you have aim or msn? AIM if yes, how often are you online? When I can manage to sign in. what is one idea you have for RCR? One idea that i have is that maybe we should change the RCR Member colors, you know, have a different color for experts, masters, accomplished, introductory, etc. It'd be a nice change and I really think it'd be great to work with different colors, and another idea I had was maybe expand the general discussion forum, simply because it's rather small, and most posts go in the games. So maybe make a larger General Discussion for us to talk a bit more than just on that, clubs, etc. Just a small idea of mine. & One thing I've noticed is that some graphic sites have retouch, colorization, blends of the month, and it'd be a fun section for that where we have small challenges that have a specific theme or something along those lines with those three subjects and each month we just celebrate the people that won those competitions and it could be open to everyone from the staff, to experts, to beginners, etc. it'd be a lot of fun, and maybe we should have fun things like forum games where it's not just in the games section but someone (if anyone's good at programming) could make a game and everyone in RCR participates in it to get high scores, and we all just have some fun together and bond as a site. And maybe we could do more things where we could have a banner competition and have everyone who wants to participate in it, make a banner for RCR and we have a poll on the ones that entered and that banner could get a feature or something fun like that. But with making the General Discussion section a little larger, maybe we could organize it by adding a few more categories instead of just, 'General Discussion,' like, maybe we could do a place where members could post current events with things that are going around the world, or maybe we could have a separate thing for Books and everything. One Idea I had is maybe doing something like a Big Brother / Big Sister, Little Brother / Little Sister thing, where old members or members who know the site sign - up and new members sign up for it also, and they get assigned to a new member and it'd be sort of like their job to just be a basic guideline around RCR, you know like teach them the roaps and everything.(: I've got loads more ideas, and this page would probably go on forever, so I should probably stop now. xD |

what is one idea you have for RCR? Well, for one, I definitely think starting more challenges regularly would be good as they seem to be lacking. Also, like someone stated above, the Picture Perfect area is lacking severely and I think that that area could be very beneficial to everyone if it is kept up to date. I know these are not really ideas, but RC&R is very active and amazing that it's rather difficult to think of ideas that are either not already created or ones that wouldn't really work. Regardless, I'm determined to work hard if I get the position and definitely think of some new ideas to make this place more wonderful than it already is.

when did you join RCR? Uhm... middle of March? -goes to check- Yeah, March 15th, 2008.
how many posts do you have? 300 and something. Exams have just come up, so I'm a little less active than usual, but I come on everyday anyway. But my goal at the moment is to get to elite, and then to 1000 posts. After that, I'll seriously have a mini-party in my head.
what is your rank? Member... for now. -shifty eyes-
how often are you online? Honestly? I'm an Internet-Cholic. I come on four to five hours on weekdays, and maybe around seven hours on weekends. o.o But, I do have a life, so sometimes I'm strangely absent on weekends. And when I am online, I spend it mostly on RPG-D, RC&R, and my own website, MBF.
do you have aim or msn? Yes. MSN. (:
cupid_s_formulas@live.com
if yes, how often are you online? Whenever I'm on the Internet or on the computer, I have my MSN open so that if anyone needs me I'll get alert and I can talk to them.
what is one idea you have for RCR? Hm. Well, RC&R does have a lot of things covered... but, first, I was thinking we could promote the writing on RC&R a little bit more. Instead of just general galleries, we could have ranks, as well as promotions. These promotions wouldn't affect the actual rank of the member - but would just be there. I also think we could do the same with photography; a lot of people I know are interested in photography, and have their own pictures. Having photography galleries would definitely welcome a new population to RC&R - which is always good.
I was thinking of maybe awards for super active members, to encourage people to become active. While elite status in of itself is rewarding, there's nothing that really comes along with it except a plus sign and the pride you wear. Perhaps you could get RGP everytime you make 500 or 1000 posts? I think it would definitely encourage activity even further - not that RC&R isn't already active enough. All I'm saying is it could be better.
I would also think of adding skinning challenges - ones that last a month. Because a lot of people on RC&R seem to be into skinning. Along with that... maybe skin of the month. As well a maybe once a year or once half a year RC&R would use a skin (for a month, say?) of the most popular skin by a member, voted by other members on RC&R. It would encourage others to meddle in skinning, and would also show off how member-driven RC&R is.
I also think we should have awards for most understandable/popular tutorial. Also - maybe small graphic tutorial of the month, and big graphic tutorial of the month? Small graphic meaning either icons or signatures, big graphics meaning blends and so forth.
Also, as Princess Jack (later on) mentions, I think we should have a promotion committee. Even better, there would be two members for member galleries, two members for introductary and beginner, two members for intermediate and accomplised, and so on and so forth. I also think we should have a challenges committee team, kind of going along the lines of the promotion committee. Things get updated so little, it makes you want to wander a bit. Although, as I said previously in this post, RC&R does have a lot of things covered, but some things just could be covered better.
Also, maybe RC&R should look into the idea of hiring staff for merely member purposes - such as 'member consultants'? Because, a lot of members' suggestions don't get answered for a while, and trust me - most of these suggestions are worth listening to. My motto has always been "a friendly forum is a great forum," and, personally, I think that right now RC&R might be lacking a bit of that. With member consultants we could get things for the members done faster, suggestions taken in - and over the whole, this alone could benefit the forum in other ways - what if from these suggestions RC&R fixes some flaws, improves a feature, or adds another one? You never know, right?

what is one idea you have for RCR? i've been saving up images of models & actors & actresses for months now in hope that there will be more "featured" for the picture perfect section. i just want to whip it into shape and organize it and get more pictures in it. sorry if that sounds a little straight forward & blunt.

if yes, how often are you online? if i remember to sign on, basically the whole time on i'm on the computer.
what is one idea you have for RCR? overall, rcr is pretty much awesomesauce. but it could probably be expanded a bit? a pretty vague idea. i've noticed that a lot of things take forever to be updated, such as the picture perfect area, which is no doubt a result of other staffers having lives - a thing not seen much anymore - but i'm huge when it comes to updating, call it ocd if you much. but honestly, i'm not really a big person on thinking of ideas more of expanding them, if you get what i mean. but if i've got one i'll usually try to say something about it. what is one idea you have for RCR? I think a domain site or like a MAIN site for RCR would be awesome with like featured characters. And I think there is a void between the higher leveled artists and lower, so we should have more like large gatherings. Or like shadowing maybe? Like a lower level artist shadows a higher level to get advice and the such. Hmm I'm sure I can find other stuff but I'm at a low muse level. Maybe a more updated Picture Perfect section?

what is one idea you have for RCR? My one idea is to have the site run more efficiently (Not that you all don't do a wonderful job) but it seems that it may be too big for you two to handle for instance the promotions - Perhaps you can assign several graphic staff members to evaluate the groups as opposed to only Sabs & Lea as you two are very busy and seems some of the promotions could be delegated. Perhaps they can evaluate the Intermediate and below leaving the higher ranks for Sabs & Lea to Promote. This way people won't get so frustrated and leave. Or at least it will cut down on your PMs. HaHa!
Another thought is a seek and find type trading card that can be hidden in posts or elsewhere - these RCR trading cards are then traded in for something really special - though I have no idea as to what that could be

what is one idea you have for RCR? Maybe a site-wide challenge? To celebrate school getting out/finals being over? Yeah, that's a lame idea. Maybe it could have something to do with skinning RC&R [not that Lea hasn't done a perfect job, I love this layout] and creating a banner? I think that might be cool.

what is one idea you have for RCR?
A lot of the ideas I had thought of were already said so far. But I do I have one that wasn't really explained all that well. I think that a board wide battle would be awesome. And same with group battles. Meaning all the staff, masters, introductorys and what not can battle there own group in a big competition. Kinda like what they have on PC. But we can make it our own you know?. And I also think It would be cool to have a domain. Were the RCR staff can like post up news, such as GOTW info and promotion info and what not.

if yes, how often are you online? (See how often I'm on the computer Sometimes, I appear offline, which probably is why you might think I don't go on MSN. I rarely log out of MSN, actually.
what is one idea you have for RCR? I noticed that there are some inactive forums. Let's get them started all over again! The site is actually very active, so why not get more members by doing this? As for the 'Requesting' forum, there are some requests that are already awaiting collection, but has the requestor has not collected the graphics. Some even dates back to March and April 2008. I saw a request that is actually meant to be trashed, but has not been moved to the right forum. So basically, the whole 'Requesting' category needs to be cleaned up.
Also, there are other forums such as the advertising forum, the picture perfect forum and the skin me alive forum; all which needs a staff member to approve. There are still some topics that need to be approved by a staff member, and has not been done for quite sometime. While it seems that the staff members are busy with life and whatnot, I think that rather than concentrating too much on the rest of the forums such as the 'Requesting' forum, the staff members should divide the workload, and some should get to the inactive forums. (aka, the one thats been screaming for attention.)

what is one idea you have for RCR? The one thing idea would be to make the site easier to use. Simple things like the bank, you shouldn't have to post everytime you need RGP award. I am a bank manager over at PC and I know it is time consuming however the seem to works better and people aren't losing out on the RCP that they have earnt because they can't work their way around a confusing form.
Also I know it isn't possible now because of lack of staff to do with promotions, but it would be nice to get feedback when your not promoted so you know what you need to work on and develop.

what is one idea you have for RCR? I think updating the artist guidelines would be a good idea. When joining the site and waiting for initial promotions, or even preparing for promotions after being a member, it's often hard to tell exactly what the staff is looking for in a gallery in order to get to each level. While I know it is important to remain vague because most galleries are so radically different, guidelines like competency in font choice and text usage, use of coloring techniques, blending quality, etc would give a better idea of what is expected to be achieved at each level (moreso than OMGYOUAREFULLOFWIN). Also, if anyone complained about their ranking, you could just point them in the direction of the guidelines and they would know exactly why, rather than having to give them a drawn-out explanation or nothing at all.
In addition, I think it is important to give members incentive to look at people in lower ranking's galleries, rather than only those who win awards, are widely known, or post in the pimp my gallery topic. It's important that everyone gets feedback and constructive criticism, and most posts stemming from the pimp my gallery section are quick because the other person just wants their own gallery to be posted in. The staff have too much on their plates most of the time to give critique to random members; if other people are posting in topics regularly, everyone will benefit.

what is one idea you have for RCR? Welll, I remember when I was just a member/introductory level that it was really hard for me to earn any RPG. I was dying to change my name (which I still am, but I'm close :]) and I couldn't. I was new to the site and making graphics and monthly awards were out of the question. When I reached introductory level, I seemed stuck and couldn't get promoted. I couldn't fill requests (gallery or graphics). I was stuck to following tutorials, so I doubted I'd be able to make any tuts for anyone else. And the resources part wasn't there when I was introductory/member level. It's much easier now, and I'm completely content with the set up now that I'm an intermediate. Buuttt, I'm sure other lower ranked members are having the same issues I had. Perhaps we can have a "Member/Introductory Only" section of the "How to Earn RPG". Or we can add some more "How to Earn RPG"'s that are easy for low-leveled graphic makers. :]

what is one idea you have for RCR? i'll keep this short and sweet, cause i know you guys will be looking at a ton of talking, just know i have more ideas up my sleeve. x] well, i would definitely like to see some of the older stuff updated (like in the enrollment/newletter), and maybe add a registration guide that gives links to important threads for new members. it was really hard for me to find my way around here, and that's why i stopped coming here for a couple months. if the news in the enrollment/newsletter are was updated, i really believe it would encourage activity. (: oh, and i also reiterate what everyone said about a graphic of the week.
thanks for considering! <3

more collaboration challenges. like pair battles or mini group battles within each rank and you could give them certain pictures/text/textures...etc to use.
-pair battles
for like pairs battles, either in the same rank or have like how they have the group battles like the intermediates & accomplished's, they'd like have to sign up and then the staff can either pair them together or they can pair them self's together. then there could be like 3 different challanges like 1. icons, 2. sig(s) 3. blends. it could run over the course of the month
-mini group battles
for the mini group battles you could take say all the beginners that signed up, split them into equal as possible groups. and gradually over the course of a month (or two depending on how many groups you have reallly) they knock the other groups out so you have one
also the raffle thing from last year, i loved that idea and would love for it to come back in a regular basis, like once a month. i really liked how it got people more involved with in the forum, it would be reallly great to have things like this implemented in

what is one idea you have for RCR?
Let's be completely honest here, shall we? No beating around the bush. The staff here at RCR are struggling to manage the forum. Most of the ideas that I've seen posted have to do with the simple upkeep of the boards, with moving things and giving feedback. Granted, we all get super busy, but let's consider promotions for one. April promotions for regular members didn't happen, which was really disappointing on my end, and they've still not happened for regular members here in May, at least, none that I can see. It gets frustrating for new people, because they are so eager to get going, to be promoted and earn something, more than the RGP. There are what, two people who do the promotions? Come on guys, there are over 4000 members here, those numbers are all wrong. I always assume that there is activity with all those accounts, and it should only be safe for you to assume that each one has a gallery. That's 2000 galleries you each have to go through. I mean, no wonder a lot of people are still waiting for promotions. It would be more awesome to have promotion committees, with more people working on the end of the member rank and less toward the elite ranks, since there are less numbers that way. Something else I've noticed; promotions occur from the highest ranks down, and it's very possible that's backwards. Getting through the member-level promotions and then working your way up would definitely please more new members, as well as entice more people who've recently joined to post galleries. I realize that everyone will eventually be promoted, but it's a really hard blow to the people of member status that those who have already been promoted get promoted first; they've already been put into a rank, they can wait. Members are most likely to leave if they don't see some action after a certain time.
Oh, if only I had the time to go into everything I had an idea for. How about the first week after I came back; I suggested in the proper places that the graveyard forum be updated with the proper way to have a gallery moved; it still hasn't been done, and that was over a month ago. I mean, there is a thread that says, 'post here to get your stuff moved' but the actual board says to PM a staff member. I was PMing all kinds of people to get it moved, when I found the thread to get it moved. A link to that thread in the actual board would have been so much easier, or instructions on how to find it. I think that this illustration of stuff 'not getting done' is one thing that I would want to see changed. When stuff needs to get done, it should be done by someone, regardless of rank in the staffers.
I think a lot of things could be better organized as well. There is no general index for things on the site, and yes, while I'm sure after some searching I would be able to find it, that's not the ease of a streamlined forum. Take the RGP; I had to read three different threads to find out about it. Why not a general 'FAQ about RGP' and then a thread to claim it? I mean, there are eight different threads in there for different things; that could definitely be consolidated into like, two or three. I agree with the idea also to make it easier for people to earn the RGP, especially at the lower ranks. A wonderful idea I've always had is giving points for reaching a certain number of posts. Elite is a great thing, but that in itself might not encourage people to post. Reach 600 posts and earn 20 RGP? You've just has a surge in activity. It's easy to post, and a lot more people could be posting. Reach 1000 posts? Earn another 20 RGP. For people who have already gotten those number of posts you would have to back-pay them, but that is easy enough to keep track of; there's not a whole lot of people with over 600 posts.
As I said before, I've got a lot of ideas, and a lot of easy solutions for them. RCR isn't a broken forum, but it definitely could be better in a lot of ways, mostly by organization and streamlining a lot of the things already happening. Splitting the workload would be my very first idea, so that each staff member knew exactly what their duties were and if they didn't do it to demote them and find someone else who would eagerly do the work. Listening to members and catering to what they think is another idea, since a forum should always be about the member's experience. (This means changing things like a forum description when you say you will, or keeping challenges up to date.)
So, yeah. I'm long winded but I hopefully have explained it at least a little bit.

what is one idea you have for RCR?
I have many ideas for rcr, and i am going to edit this post until i get everything out of my head onto this peice of parchment.
Photography Gallerys
I think that rcr should have a section on the site for photography. We have a writing section, and a graphic arts section of course, but nothing for photos that were taken by members. I think that we should add an area for photograph gallerys. I know the rule that you do not believe in people posting images of themselves, so we could make a rule, so people can not post pictures of people I know that i have taken lots of pictures in real life, and i have actually used them, in my graphic art. So we could have the people who make the gallerys have the option of letting people use there works or not.
Art Gallerys
Along with making an area for photography i believe that rcr should have an area for art. An area or gallery of the site where you could display or show off your artistic ability. When i mean art, i mean stuff made without a computer inhancing it. Stuff painted, or drawn, or pictures of sculptures that people made. And i think it would be really cool to see what people can make without photoshop, or a graphic art program.
friends
I know that rcr is like one of the best graphic sites, and communities around the internet, and it has soem of the best tutorials, and you get the best graphical improvement on it, but i think that the site as a whole should become more of a "family". I know that i come on the site bi-daily, and i go on, and i dont know like anyone on the list besides, the admin, mod, and like 10 other people. There are usually like about 50ish people on, so saying that i know about 1/5 of the people on. I think if somone comes on the site and comes back like regularly, than the people on the site should be familur to them, and they, and i do not get that from rcr.
Making new friends
I do not know if it is just me or if it is rcr, but i am thinking that rcr should have a get to know the artist month. I think everyone should be assigned a partner in crime, and they would be paired together for a week, and during that week they would critique that persons work, and get to know the artist more. If we do this for a month, than each week a member could get a new partner, therefore you would get different points of view, on areas that you need to work on, you would gain a friend, and you would get to knwo someone more on the site.
Site wide games
Another idea i had to bring the site members more close is a graphic scavenger hunt. This could be done in several ways. The original way i thought of it was making a topic of anyone who wanted to participate in it. The admin and mods would go into there gallerys and pick out there top favorite of the persons work than post that in a main topic, and there would be a topic for each rank. The scavenger hunt would than be for each member or team, to find out who made what graphic. If we had teams, i think this would be ran more effecient than by individuals, not as much fun. Another way it could be ran is by finding certain topics, or a pictured edited into a topic, from graphic clues. I think the first way would be a better, and fun game. I also believe we could have tri-monthly games like this. If we had them any closer together, i believe that it would get to hard to keep up with, and not make it as special as when we do it every so often. The team winner of the scavenger hunt would than receive rpg.
Challenges for promotion
I know that when you get better on rcr, promotion is supposed to get harder, and that is done by filling requests. What if we had a challenge to pimp the site, so higher ranking members could help make the site look pretty, with challenges for buttons, sidebar images, and etc. It would give a chance for god artists to show off there work, and a fun challenge for them to do, also it would make it easier for admins to update the site. For higher ranking members to get promoted they would have to fill a request, and participate in the challenge. If that is not liked we could also make it so that not just the pimp the site challenge would have to be done to get promoted, but participation in one challenge would get them promoted. Challenges are a fun way to show your artwork off, and to compete against other members with style, and i think that it should be manditory to participate in at least one of them bi-monthley. So every other promotion you would have to make one.
Posting in gallery's encouragement
I know that almost everyone on the site has a gallery, and they want people to post in them critiqing, and destroying what they make with words, yet there is not really an encouragment to post in gallerys with critique, and help. I believe that we should give out rgp for every 10 (20 it can vary) gallerys people post in with good replys. If tehy give us links in the bank deposit topic, i think this could be a good modivation for people who do not bother to post in gallerys.
Site map/layout
I know when I first joined rcr, i had no clue what each forum was for, and what each contained, and how it worked. I think that a site layout, of each section of the site with what it contained, and how they worked in like the welcome section of the board would be a great help to newer members trying to figure out what the areas of the site are for.
Member colors
As stated before i also believe that group colors should be changed. When looking at the online list all of the colors look so simular, and it is hard to tell the difference between which member is which. I think that there should be a dramatic change in color between groups, so dramatic that you can tell automatically what group is what, and who is in it.
Clubs map
I know that there are a zillion clubs on here, and i am not sure if we have a list of these yet because i have stayed away from the clubs section with my stay at rcr, but i think there should be a main list, or again map of what clubs we have to offer, and a breif description of what the club does. This way it will be easier for newer members to get to know the clubs, and I believe that if more people know what the clubs goals, and motavations are than more people will be wanting to join them, and make them more active.
I so have to go sleep so i just wanted to add that i have no life <_<, and doing busy (admin/mod) work so makes me feel happy, which is why i decided to post this form, and i so doubt that i will get the job, so i wanted to express all of my ideas, so the person who is selected can fufil them. :ph43r: :ph43r:

what is one idea you have for RCR?
o1. RCR is very well put together but there is one thing that could use some fixing up. The Forum Directory. Most of the sites have gone offline and there aren't in the 'inactive sites' forum.
o2. I have noticed some really good 'member' graphics and they haven't been promoted. So another suggestion would be to speed up the promotions and keep track of all of the artists that updated with new graphics that deserved to be promoted.
o3. Also, i think that most of the 'member's and 'introductory's are really good at graphics but RCR won't allow them to take requests unless having the requester have a form to put. i think that they don't need to have the form and just let 'members' and 'introductory's take the requests. if the requester doesn't like them, then they can redo them.

what is one idea you have for RCR?+ ART CLUB
I think one of the best recent additions to RCR was the member clubs. One of my ideas is to create permanent clubs (not special interest clubs) such as an Art Club. The topic would be pinned in the Member Club area (or could be a forum on its own - either redirect or not), and would consist of things like award making (just the bases; names can be added by admin), and resources (the resources topic that exists already can be moved) including icon bases, textures, etc. Plus, I think here we could post an "intro to graphic art" tutorial, explaining basic terms (like the difference between .jpeg and .psd, and what a "stock" image is), programs and providing helpful links to tutorials around the web (not necessarily to specific tutorials since I know a lot of the time people don't allow that, but to stock sites, deviant art, and to live journal tutorial lists, of which I have MANY). Site members can also submit their suggestions of helpful links, and a master list can be compiled. This is not intended to be an FAQ for the site, its made for newbies to learn some tricks and tips to get their work flowing. I believe this would be beneficial to many Members and Intros, because a lot of the time they don't get promoted for a while because they keep making the same mistakes. The Art Club could provide inspiration and motivation for those who have lost their muse. I also think that in order to keep the club organized and active, only intermediate and above can join. Members, Intros and Beginners can come in and post questions and view/use resources, but they are not allowed to post resources or awards. Also, it might be prudent to discuss giving like 5-10 RGP for every 10 awards made - and there can be a section for challenge awards and a section for battle awards, if that is necessary.
+ MEMBER CLUBS REVAMP
All that being said, I think that the Member Clubs could use some revampage. I like the idea of people posting their club ideas and seeking out members before the clubs are formed, but many of the already established clubs have kind of died out. I think that in order to keep the club, members must post at least twice a week (I'm just making the numbers up - we can discuss it of course). After a month (around promo time), clubs will be reviewed and those inactive clubs will be moved to a club graveyard (where of course members can request to have the club resurrected). Also, I think having challenges between the clubs (and within them too) would encourage activity. For example, all clubs can have a graphics competition of graphics that best represent their club - so that means any member in a particular club can submit an entry and then members can vote on their favorite - then all clubs participating submit their entries and the site can vote on the best one. The winning club then gets a spot with the Artist of the Month as the Club of the Month or "Featured Club" if you don't want to do it monthly (which is understandable and fine). The "Featured Club" gets a link on the sidebar and/or a pinned topic and/or a banner link (like the gallery banners at the top of the screen). Other competitions between clubs can go on (not just graphic competitions, I mean) - and clubs can have their own challenges for their members (for example, the Stargate club can have a contest of Which Show Is Better, SG1 or Atlantis? or Write a One-Shot about your favorite character). Winners can get RGP and a pretty award (provided by the Art Club ^.^).
Okay, so I wanted to say that I am very flexible, and I'm up for whatever changes you want to make to my ideas, or the site in general. I'd love to help out with anything that needs attention, like challenges, clubs and forum adverts. Thanks for the opportunity!

I'll make it simple.
I think that there's some forms that are kind of dead. There should be more encouragement to post on them, same as adding new kind of features.
For example we could make photography contests. Encourage people to make resources too, so Rc&R would become a resources site too.
I've been a moderator of good sites and I used to promote them on different sites, so we got more poeple.
Besides I think that there should be an admin activation for new users so we'd avoid spam.

Its kind of hard to send out news regarding club activities every time. Oh and spruce up the Picture Perfect - but I know you guys are working on that one already. :] For Sound and Sense, maybe like a featured work for the month/week posted in like a home website or by a linkage from the main feature topic. I was going to ramble off but since you said just one idea, I guess a home site would be cool. :]

plot pages
i know RCR is a graphics community but well, right now, you have added a writing section to the forum and it isnt so much of a graphic community now. more like a writing/graphic forum so i thought why not go for another forum? plot pages. Plot makers would be able to post plot pages for use for other members of the community, provided they were credited and adhere to the rules of the plotmaker. if we were to have a few of the basic needs of rping like plot pages, graphic and maybe roleplaying tips, maybe the board can grow in numbers and its name be remembered anywhere.
tips and tricks
some graphic makers dont know what the staff are looking for in their gallery to be promoted or nominated for the awards so maybe we could post a few tips on how to improve the look of your gallery. most people think that they will be promoted, no matter how shitty or how great their gallery looks but sometimes, its not all about greatness. i know that for quite awhile now but new members dont. so maybe we could post up a forum on tricks and tips how to catch the eye of a staff member, even by him/her looking at your topic title and description, i dont know about a forum but maybe a topic since well, most people have issues with this thing.
artist of month interviews
now being an artist of the month is really highly sought after and being nominated and chosen by one of the staff members is truly honored. now, being the artist of the month is like being a popstar. they love to 'brag' about it...well, some but well, they should have some sort of biography. i thought maybe the staff members(provided that they are available) could come up with a few questions like how long have they been doing graphics and stuff like that that might interest the community.this is not entirely mandatory but it would be good to have one, just to make the artist appreciated and well-known throughout the board.
revamping
we might have to revamp some stuff. for example, the forum directory. most sites turn offline or inactive and most of them have just been opened 2 days or so. i thought maybe we could clear out all of such forums and make space for fresh and online boards who would interest and make the lives of members of RCR happier. some members would have to browse through many boards, in hoping to be part of a community but instead of finding one happy place, they come across a lonely and miserable board. that can be quite frustrating.
RGP
members are pityful. most of them cant get these wonderful 'RGP' pieces due to their level or their status. i know some people would like to change their names and well, i know changing a name can be a bit tedious but well, 150 'RGP' can be quite frustrating to get when your an introductory or member or maybe even higher. maybe we could open a topic on how to earn these fascinating gold pieces for the community and get all the information they may need from the specific topic. ways to collect RGP and how to earn as fast as possible. this might not be necessary but it would sure be good to have one.
these are the couple of ideas i have and none of them are mandatory. just ideas i thought i'd share. i know my age and my graphic skills arent as great as the people here but i thought i'd make a good moderator etc and i hope to improve every graphic specification there is. i love challenges and i see this opportunity as a challenge to test my graphic skills and to test my moderator skills. i know i may not be one of the first few choices (in terms of promotions) but once i say that im set on a task, i am set on the task. i hope you would consider my application as a chance for me to show this community and you what i can achieve. i promise to be active but then again, actions speak louder than words. XD. thank you again for this opportunity!

what is one idea you have for RCR?
i'd love to see the tutoring section expand and grow a bit. i love the new idea for the individual "classes" and think that one of the most important aspects of a graphics forum should be improvement. i've found that one of the reasons i'm very loyal to this site as opposed to others is that there's a greater focus on beginners than at other places. often people who are new feel confused and like there's no one to explain things to them (that the focus is more directed towards the people that are already good), so i think that one of the things that i would introduce to the forums would be just a database for basic tutorials and functions of various tools in photoshop. RC&R has helped me immensely to improve with graphics, as i went from not even knowing how to use a program to winning intermediate of the month in about a year's time. i'd love to see similar improvement in other's work, wether that is achieved by more prompt critique, sectionalized challenges (to avoid having "the same people win everything"), but ESPECIALLY by giving tutors RPG for remaining active, because i've witnessed much improvement due to close tutoring and critique partnerships when i've worked at other forums.
i also think one of the important functions of RC&R should be to strengthen the bond between the graphics community and the roleplay community. the requests and coding sections run rather smoothly on their own because of all the dedicated staff already working on them, but i'd love to see more emphasis on help for writing/coding site plots and staff searches. for instance, instead of having an individual thread for each site that is looking for staff, we could have a list of people currently open to work on sites, and the people who wanted the help could contact them via pm instead. that way the process will run more smoothly and we'll avoid people looking to work places having to repost in multiple threads. a centralized location (like one thread) for pbs and icons of them might be nice as well (i actually have something like this left over from another site i used to have)
i'd love to see the site expand it's resources collection as well, and perhaps we could keep a whole forum for photoshoots instead of just a thread some time in the future. i know that i'm always looking for good pictures to use, and i've found that others are too and that this sort of section is a large pull for new members. i'd be wonderful for RC&R to be recognized more widely as a hot spot for inspiration (in terms of writing, too).
so, in short, i guess i'd say that i have many ideas, but most of them just revolve around improvement (tutoring, critique), the connection with rp forums (staff search) and resources (photoshoots). i feel that i'd be a very dedicated staff member and that i'd have a lot to offer because i've run numerous sites in the past. thanks for reading!

what is one idea you have for RCR?RPG HELP
Mmkay. We already have a writing section so I thought that members might like some more resources for their sites. Graphic-wise, you can't really have a better source than RCR already and there's already a staff search but the content of the site... people might need: rules (at least the standard ones which can be modified), app templates, canon lists for certain fandoms, plot pages, etc. I know how hard it is to have to go through the HP Lexicon to make canon lists. It's a bit time consuming.
Hmm. We could also have a place for members to volunteer themselves to be staff and members that are hiring can look through them and reply if they need their help. There might be some members that are willing to help and can advertise themselves for hiring. This way we both have the members hiring having an ad and members who want to be hired as helpers.
Ooh. Maybe we can also have places where members can test-drive their plot of sorts. They could get critique for it, help to make it better. I know from experience that a cool plot tends to get a few kinks here and there and I often need help to 'cover them up' or find a way around them. Having a place to ask people's opinions on it would be awesome. Along with plots, maybe there could be critique for apps as well. -blinks-
PLAYBYS
I'm a big playby person. I love helping people find them. I'd totally revamp the playby section and it'd be great if there were also mini-pics of the pbs for members to look at perhaps. I'd totally model search and put more on the HP ones, etc.
FANDOM BATTLES?
There are a lot of fandoms of the same genre and it'd be fun to put them up against each other, I think. We could have a group of one fandom either collectively write a multi-chapter story of their fandom and the other group write their own and have them be judged as a whole, polling for the winners. I think that this might help keep members active since they'll always be looking out for the next chapter because what your team members write will affect the grand scheme of things.
FEATURED SECTION
Suppose every month (every two months, whichever you decide), we could have a list of featured stuff: female/male playby, book, movie, band, rpg, fandom, something. This could be easily turned into a challenge/tournament of sorts as well. ie having entries for blending all the featured stuff together: say, lyrics from the featured band, with screencaps of the featured movie as the main pics...
SITE WIDE EVENT
Oh! Just remembered. They do this often on harrypotterfanfiction.com. They have clues related to HP and the answers are hidden somewhere in the chapters the stories that the answer from the first clue will lead you to if you search it up on the search engine. RCR-wise, we could have them hidden in galleries. O.O
... of course with a loverly prize at the end of the rainbow. XD
This'll be good, I think so that members get to see all the amazing artists that have galleries here! There are so many galleries that looking through all of them might take a little while (a little... heh. lmao. <3) so having a game where you're looking through galleries might encourage more people to stop by more often and comment of galleries to help artists get better!
UFGs
There are some members who might be looking for a quick set, at least a standard one so MAYBE, just maybe... we could have an area with a bunch of sigs, sig icons, sets that are arranged by playby so members have the option of requesting or just using (and crediting) already made ones.
IMAGES
I find that good quality images are vital to making good graphics. Could we possibly have links to HQ galleries and more photoshoots?
Stock photos! Some members might be handy with a camera and taking pics of vacations and such. These stock images could be used for so many things! So maybe instead of having to look at other sites, their resource could be here!
Screencaps. Some people are pretty crafty with these. xD
Now that I think about it, maybe we need a bigger resource of images for some pretty graphic-making. =)
CHALLENGE!
I remember a contest type on LJ: Last Icon Maker Standing kind of thing. What if RCR had a big one with everyone competing for one or maybe divided up by rank, or graphic type, or by fandom, or by theme... It's like round by round, participants will be eliminated.
Thanks so much, RCR! These are are just some ideas I have right now. God knows what'll come to me some other time. I know that I'm not exactly the best graphic-maker (I'm working on getting near there... rofl.) but should I be chosen to be on staff, I shall surely try my best to be around and help as much as I can.

how many posts do you have? 201 after this post
what is your rank? introductory this month xD
how often are you online? let's just say i have to be dragged off
do you have aim or msn? aim: ihlovesyou
if yes, how often are you online? sometimes. but pm is always fast
what is one idea you have for RCR?
CHALLENGES:
Yesyes *nods* i love the challenges here but they are not quickly moved to the voting thread after the 'due date' and sometimes not moved to the 'winner' thread until 2 months after. That, I tell you, is very exasperating to me since I'm the kind of person who likes to see things updated speedy quick. So I guess you'll need staff to update that
PROMOTIONS:
Ahh. the time of the month xD There are many people on RCR that seriously need to be promoted from their sucky member level. Many people have seriously improved but do not get moved up which is unfair for them. So maybe you need a special team of people who goes out every month and rummages though the levels and sort things out.
TUTORING:
This section of RCR is starting again. The site should make this update FAST. I know a bunch of peole want some help with their graphic and the Line of Fire thread is just not enough help. I think you should make this section like a class format. Sort each section into even smaller sections. (Eg. the blend section has 50 people in it and take 5 blend masters and tell them to 'teach' a class of 10 (with 5 classes). The classes can be divided up by level. That way they can assign 'assignments' to test their level and can be moved up to the upper class.
Overall I think the ideas the site has is awesome but you need more people to be in charge of them so they will run better and FASTER. They just have to be updated faster, that's all

what is your rank? currently member, but was beginner before my computer crashed and I was gone for a couple months.
how often are you online? recently got my computer back up from a crash a few months ago and dealing with work, college, and trying to find a new job, but still got a stockpile of free time that I've been trying to fill up.
do you have aim or msn? yes, both, mut use MSN more often
if yes, how often are you online? currently not often because there's no one on to talk to, but I'm mostly on as soon as I turn my computer on to the time I turn it off
what is one idea you have for RCR? I've had an idea about a new promotion system for a while now, and I've thought up a few details of it, but not all the way through so it can be tweaked. Anywho, I figured it would be a good idea to base promotions on progress from one promotion to the next. Basically if someone wants a promotion, their work that got them to the level they are currently at is compared to the best of their current work to see if they've gotten better or not.
Another thing is that the picture perfect section is fairly big, but lacking in the actual resources. I myself am fairly organized (being as I get paid to keep an office in order I think I'm pretty good at it) and I am also familiar with invisionfree boards as I have been staff on a good number of sites. I have a couple of model forums that I'm a member on and can possibly get a few of the models from them, posting links back to the original source.
There's also the fact that it is a bit difficult to acquire RGP unless you're a high ranking member since the majority of the time, they're the ones who win the challenges. I actually have 2 solutions to this. The first is that we divide the member groups into 2 general groups just for challenges: the first half being the more experienced artists, the second half being the lower ranking artists. This way they have a slightly more even chance of winning the competitions. Another idea is similar to the RCR site challenges in the fact that we could have site games. Some of them could involve whoever compiles the largest list of a single topic (like songs that have the same title, but different artists) and then they would get a little reward. They don't have to be big, but I think it would increase interest in the site if there were more ways to earn currency.
Of course what's the point in earning money without a way to spend it? At the moment, if you want something, it pretty much just disappears. I think it would be interesting if RGP could be used to purchase graphics from other members (essentially digital commissions). I know it would be a bit complicated, but it could all be handled in its own sub board in the bank.

how many posts do you have? a few... 40+
what is your rank? introductory but hoping to be moved up
how often are you online? every freaking day, many hours too!
do you have aim or msn? AIM = adeepbreath12, YIM= adeepbreath12
if yes, how often are you online? every day. I admin 2 RP sites and work on another so I'm on for many hours/daily.
what is one idea you have for RCR? I am big into organization. I would be happy to organize, sort, clean... stuff like that. I really love the fact that RCR offers skins and coding help... maybe push for more people to be involved and create for that aspect of the site.

how often are you online? every day, for pretty long preiods of time. shamelss to say i don't really have a life. XD and i don't have college again until september because i just finished sitting my exams, so until then i'll be VERY active. =]
do you have aim or msn?
msn ; cezza91@hotmail.co.uk
if yes, how often are you online? if my laptop is on then my msn is on. lol. and i don't ever turn my laptop off. it's just left on standby and plugged into the power mains. haha.
what is one idea you have for RCR? the main idea i have is to make more use of the skinning section. what i mean by use is to have more member-friendly things added to it. tutorials on how to make skins would be AMAZING, because i know that i've wanted to know how to make them for a long, long time, so other people are probably wanting to know how to do so also. as well as this, challenges to do with skinning, such as movie-themed skins, girly skins, etc. that could probably lead on to having skin of the month, or skinner of the month.
i think this should also be so with the writing section. because there is artist of the month, there should also be writer of the month, to make the writing section almost as big of a highlight as the graphics section. then rCr could be promoted as being not only a graphics forum, but a graphics and writing forum to provide to a bigger audience.
i also think we should have more competitions, and one idea that i have is that it could be centered around a tutorial? give a tutorial to follow, and the person who follows it the best, or has the most original results wins?
i think the lower member groups may have trouble getting things such as graphic of the month, so maybe you could introduce introductory graphic of the month, beginner graphic of the month, or intro/beginer graphic of the month? i think that would help in giving the lower member groups a chance to be recognised for how they are improving, and would also give them a chance to earn more of the highly sought after RGP. =]
and finally, i think we should come up with more stuff to buy with the RGP that you earn. i can't really think of anything right now, but maybe like you have the banners at the top of the page to link to graphic galleries, members could buy one to link to their writing galleries also?
thats all off the top of my head. i 100% agree with the picture perfect section, because it is hugely un-used at the moment. i would like to add that we should maybe add a forum for screencaps of tv programs and movies? i know that i've been looking for these VERY often and haven't been able to get them and had to start capping my own, which can be incredibally time cinsuming. intoroduce a place where members can request some screencaps, and other members can make them? i know i'd be happy to make them, so i think this could definately work. =]
